XLR SOCKETS
The XLR connector is commonly used for electrical connections in the professional and hi-end audio. Colloquially it is called Cannon connector in reference to the original manufacturer: Cannon Electric (now part of ITT Corporation). This connector is provided with a locking system. The XLR connection is a type of balanced connection that lets you connect devices over long distances without loss of quality due to background noise picked up. This is made possible by the presence, as well as the mass (said pin 1), of two cables: a signal cable (pin 2) and a 180 degrees phase-shifted signal cable (pin 3). At the opposite end with respect to the signal source, on both of these cables, in addition to the real signal, it will be present in phase the same amount and type of background noise possibly picked up along the route or inevitably produced by the cables. The signal will then be taken from the two cables for difference: in this way the useful part will be of double amplitude, while the noise pickup or product along the path, being present in phase on both cables, will be canceled by the operation of difference.Below is a selection of XLR connectors among which you can choose the model to be installed on your amplifier with its premium (meaning for the couple).
